'View from the Top of the World'

Another hazy, blustery day, but we could see a few wind turbines in the yonder from the 'top of the world'.

Update: This area has over 7,300 wind turbines, making it one of the, if not 'The' largest collection of 'wind turbines' in the world.

Took the camera to work on Friday, and after lunch had a little time to sit by the San Francisco Bay and watch the birds fly by, or, as is the case for this 'Jonathan Livingston Pavarotti', sign arias for whomever wanted to listen. His notes do not quite resonate the same as the original Pavarotti's but I'll give him a '7' for an effort - Simon Cowell, on the other hand, would most likely say that "It sounded like a seagull choking on a sardine!"

'St. Michael Church' - Take #2

Here is my second attempt to capture this church. This time I used my 'proper' camera as well as took the time to create my first official HDR photo. I used software to combine this from three bracketed exposures (-3 EV, 0 EV, and +2 EV). The original photo - taken with a Canon SD400 - can be found here http://kianta.smugmug.com/gallery/6972791_aCLVT#454741812_oib9S

Hopefully you feel there is an improvement - if not - then I'll go and sell all of my camera gear and concentrate on gardening starting Monday. LOL!

Camera / lens / EXIF data / software: Nikon D300, Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED-IF AF-S VR, Aperture priority, F/8, ISO 200, three exposures between 1/2 and 30 seconds. The lens is not quite 'stellar' but a good all-around-carry-one travel lens. Software: Photoshop CS3.

'Emma and her Cigar'

Our doggies, Emma and Elli, tend to duel over the last remaining 'bully stick'. Emma found this 'cigar' under the couch and ran to the living room to finish it up. Meanwhile, Elli waits patiently for Emma to drop it...

P.S. Great to be home from the short biz trip! My apologies for being late on commenting on all of your great photos!
kianta > 01Feb2009 - Day 32

Elli was not volunteering for a portrait this evening, but it paid off handsomely for her in the form of a couple of late night treats after the modeling session was over.

'Full moon'

This photo was taken through light high clouds about 3 hours after the 'official' full moon which was at 7:39 p.m. PDT on March 10th. The camera settings were ISO 100, F/11, 1/125.

Previous full moon shot can be found at http://www.kianta.smugmug.com/gallery/5167841_SJJrz#452647546_soB9t

'Super-Squirrel leaping'

This is not a high quality sharp photo, but even at 1/800 of a second the "Super-Squirrel" can't be 'frozen'... even its shadow seems to be a bit slow.

Update: We have used this feeder mostly for the squirrels although birds congregate there when the 'bigger ones' are not present. Squirrels are very clever critters and will give any squirrel-proof feeder a great test.

"Did someone say Triple Cream Brie?"

No, not exactly, but they did say "Cheese".

Update: Emma reacts always this - the same - way to the question: "Do you want some cheese?"
